box office roundup

all i can say is..these numbers are lower than i expected all across the board! o welll

1. Hancock- 62.6 mil (although their total gross as of now is over 100 mil..)
2. Wall-E- 32.5 mil
3. Wanted- 20.05 mil (alot lower than expected)
4. Get Smart- 11.1 mil
5. Kung Fu Panda- 7.3 mil

it is yet to be seen if Hancock can grow legs- i know lots of people were turned off by the shiteous twist.

nows the perfect time for me to update you on some totalz

1. Wanted stands at over 153 mil worldwide! sick. its the number 2 movie this year with an R rating (in terms of box office) and it is only just passed its second weekend.
2. Wanted is also nearing the top ten movies released this year- currently at number 13. number one is of course Iron Man.
3. The Chronicles of Narnia- Prince Caspian has passed the 300 mil mark worldwide. yet people are still calling it a bomb? im confused...
4. the country its made the most money in internationally (so far) is Japan- over 26 mil.
5. Hancock won the weekend worldwide as well as domestically.
6. Narnia is number 1 in 13 countries after this weekend.
7. Wanted is number 1 in 14 countries after this weekend.

I have good news...and bad news.

the box office is all over the place this week. i dont even know where to begin i have so many things to tell you. lets start a list...

1. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was number one in the UK this weekend! yay! it grossed about 8 million there, with Wanted coming in second place with 7.6 mil. total gross there over the weekend was about 23 million. these also include numbers from Ireland and surrounding areas.
2. While its great that Narnia won the weekend, to give you a little perspective, the top opening weekend number of all time in the UK is 33.5 million (which would be kinda shitty in the US)..so these two movies are far from being spectacular.
3. The box office predictions for this weekend (domestically) were sorta off- because the actuals have Wall-E clocking in at about 63 mil and Wanted at just under 51 mil, which was less than the prediction i gave you sunday.
4. Wanted is currently the number one movie internationally- this includes all international domains- earning over 32 million overseas. crazy!
5. when you factor in some weekday numbers, Wanted domestically stands at 57.3 mil! total gross worldwide is around 82 mil. i hope you all realize how crazy these numbers are to be earned by an R film in a matter of 3 or so days. this movie is cleaning up. i feel so proud since ive been looking at press for this film all the way back during pre-production!

while im here, i might as well give you the predictions for the 4th of july weekend from weekend warrior. the only remarkable opening this weekend is Will Smith's Hancock, which ill probs never see. fridays numbers should be higher since everyone has off, then again it is a holiday so idk how many people are going to the movies..

1. Hancock- 72.8 mil
2. Wall-E- 41.5 mil
3. Wanted- 27.5 (im hoping for over 30)
4. Get Smart- 12.1
5. Kung Fu Panda- 8 mil

and there you have it! im box officed out for a while. Read more!

alright, ill give u the box office.

BORING! obvs Get Smart won the weekend, but it wasnt anything spectacular. im just too excited for this coming weekend to even care about the last one, but here are ur numbers regardless...

1. Get Smart- 38.68 mil
2. Incredible Hulk- 22.136 mil
3. Kung Fu Panda- 21.9 mil (this movie is doing remarkably well!)
4. The Love Guru- 13.9 mil (BOMB!!!)
5. The Happening- 10.48 mil

i saw Get Smart and it was good, but not great. maybe my expectations were too high. nothing really blew me out of my seat in terms of humor, which was a let down, but the action was good and the plot was ok enough. if your planning on seeing an action movie, save your money for WANTED this coming weekend!

tomorrow you'll have your predictions via weekend warrior Read more!

updatz

got some updates on caspian, and then ill go see what's in the cards for this weekend for the domestic box office.

Australia's numbers are a little over 4 mil. SATC won the weekend there- which means australians must have forgotten caspian was released. thats the only logical explanation i can think of. i remember LWW grossed like 25 mil or something there so caspian has a long way to go.

also, box office mojo updated the foreign totals to include more countries that weren't previously listed, like china for instance. weirdly enough- caspian beat kung fu panda's ass in the philippines. the movie has yet to open in about 10 countries.

your actualz

im having a really bad night. i had a doctors appointment at 7:30- didnt get into a room until almost 8, and then SAT THERE until 8:15. when the doctor finallly came in he talked to me for 2 SECONDS and then i left. what a waste of my life.

anyways thats not the point of this post- here is your actual weekend box office.

1. kung fu panda- 60,239,130 (very very nice)
2. you dont mess with the zohan- 38,531,374 (barf!)
3. indiana jones a the kingdom of the suck my ass- 22,793,630
4. satc- 21,218,305 (that a 62% + drop! bahah)
5. the strangers- 8.9 mil (sad- their gross is only about 37 mil)

caspian- 5.658 mil. i was not able to find any info about this weekends australian opening. i find it strange that information is so hard to find. UPDATE: i found a total for taiwan- which is a little over 1 mil. sounds a little pathetic, but in terms of the market, its a pretty decent open. to put it into perspective- iron man opened april 30th there and is just ending their run and has a total gross of about 5.3 million. the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe which opened at the end of december 2005 grossed a total of 3.75 million for its total run. for now, it looks like caspian might be on track to surpass the LWW total there and that seems to be a growing theme in all international markets. im officially babbling.

more info to come probs tomorrow when weekend warrior tells us his predictions for this coming weekend. Read more!
