i agree.

kid rock put, quite eloquently, my feelings on celebrity political endorsement.

"I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics. Because at the end of the day, let me tell you what I 'm good at: I'm good at writing songs and singing. What I'm not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for … I think would be very irresponsible on my part. So I'll just keep my mouth shut on that. I think celebrity endorsements hurt politicians. Because as soon as somebody comes out for a politician, especially in Hollywood, when they all go, 'I'm voting for this guy!' — I go, 'That's not who I'm voting for!' … As soon as Oprah Winfrey pops up and goes 'Ha-la-la-la-la,' I'm like, 'I love Barrack Obama. I hate Oprah Winfrey.' I don't hate her. I just don't believe in her, so I don't want any part of any of that. I think celebrities hurt politicians."

hes so correct. this is the one thing him and i will ever agree on. other than hating oprah...

one thing i dont look for in my fave celebs is advice on a presidential candidate. most of them, lets face it, dont even get to experience a college classroom.

Update on Wuthering Heights Movie

Word on the street is that Keira was offered the role of Cathy Earnshaw after Natalie Portman had dropped, however Keira rejected it. Also the director has left the project.

will we ever get this film? i think they should find a no name to play the leading role.

click below the cut for the full article.

More problems for the big-screen adaptation of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. In May Natalie Portman, who was to play Cathy Earnshaw, pulled out because she didn’t think she could manage a Yorkshire accent. Now the film’s director John Maybury (centre), has quit, leaving the future of the movie in serious doubt.
It is not known exactly why Maybury, whose credits include the recent Dylan Thomas movie The Edge of Love, left, but the Daily Mail claims it was down to differences of opinion between himself and the producers over the script and cast (as reported on The First Post, Maybury was never keen on Portman taking the lead role). It seems the project had moved into a direction he was not happy with. In a recent interview, Maybury said that the producers initially wanted "a weird, dark version of the weird, dark tale", but it soon became apparent that was not the case.
The search is now on for a new director – and a new leading actress. Kiera Knightley was offered the part of Cathy after Portman left, but turned it down because she didn’t want to take on a role the American actress had dumped. Sienna Miller (pictured above with Maybury and Knightley at the premiere of 'The Edge of Love') was then approached, but she had other commitments.

all you people are idiots

people seriously dont fact check anymore..

including me.

but seriously, even the likes of perez hilton fucked up on this one:

ET has learned that reports of a Lindsay Lohan motorbike accident in New York City last night, which allegedly happened while she was out partying with gal pal Samantha Ronson and landed her in the hospital, are false.

Her rep confirmed that the alleged accident didn't take place. "I spoke to Lindsay and she said this didn't happen," her rep tells ET

not sure what to believe.

i just read that supposedly the relationship between penn and blake is fake? (not an intentional ryme)..

Thrilling fans across the country, the CW Network confirmed that it has ordered 22 new episodes of the low-rated "Gossip Girl," which is ultra popular with girls aged 12-17. Along the series order, the CW has also ordered two fake relationships amongst the show's cast. The first fake romance between "Gossip Girl" actors has already started showing up on gossip websites as photos of stars Blake Lively and Penn Badley vacationing in Mexico and holding hands in New York City (left) have appeared.

Insiders say that the CW has ordered this relationship to reach a dramatic high point around the fall season re-launch of "Gossip Girls" in late August, with another romance set to peak during February sweeps."Fake relationships with frequent photo opportunities for the paparazzi are a key aspect of any new intellectual property aimed at young people in the current media environment," said CW talent relations VP Chad Keighley. "The CW is proud to bring Blake and Penn together for our devoted fans, with another fake relationship on tap for later in the season. We'll also be producing some new episodes and see how those go."

teen choice awards nominations

i am not a teen, yet i feel obligated to be excited about this. ok maybe not excited..how bout REALLY EXCITED because Gossip Girl kicked ass and took names. heres all you need to know about the show airing Aug. 4th---

1. miley cyrus is hosting (wonder how slutty shes gonna look?)
2. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian  is nominated for movie action adventure (but iron man will probs win)
3. Jake Gyllenhaal is nominated for best actor (drama) for his role in Rendition, which i saw and loved.
4. Keira Knightley is nominated for best actress (drama) for her role in Atonement. bitch better win.
5. they have a category for best actress (and one for actor) for horror films, which seems kinda dumb for me, but i can appreciate Brittany Snow being nominated (obv for her role in Prom Night
6. ben barnes is nominated for breakout actor! yay
7.  gossip girl nominated for best tv drama (OTH is also nominated), and also tv breakout show
8. choice male tv actor- Chace Crawford and Penn Badgley, and Chad Michael Murray
9. choice female tv actor- Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Sophia Bush, and Katherine Heigl. if blair doesnt win ill be really legit upset about it. i think she has it in the bag.
10.  (both 9 and 10 relate to tv dramas)
11. leighton and blake are also nominated for choice breakout actresses (taylor momsen too, but that bitch would shit gold before she won and award for her acting).
12. breakout male stars include Ed Westwick, Chace, and Penn too. Westwick is also nominated for choice tv villian.
13. britney spears even got a nomination! are pigs flying?
14. theres two more categories- choice female hottie, and choice red carpet fashion icon (female) that i feel leighton meester should have gotten nominated for. BITCH WORKS IT. chace crawford was nominated for male hottie.

so ill end the list with 14 points, which evidently, is the total amount of nominations Gossip Girl got. is that not the sickest shit you ever heard? you can get more information along with a list of all nominees and categories here

welcome down with the warrior sound

as if the writers strike this past winter wasn't enough, there is now a imminent SAG strike looming above our heads. ive been wondering why interesting film news is now few and far between, and this is the reason. many of you have probably heard lots of tidbits on it from different news outlets, but ill give you a short rundown here:

-basically the fight is raging between SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) over actors contracts and their royalties relating to streaming video on the internets.
-the actors want to be compensated (as the writers and directors did back in the winter) for people watching them work on the internet, this includes the actors actually giving consent for their work to be shown on the internet. i guess this seems fair?
-if an agreement is not reached by june 30th, then SAG goes on strike. i hope you all know what this means- no actors to act in anything!
-this may not affect movies as badly as television, as most actors have signed waivers to continue working on films. some films without waivers have built in breaks that accommodate a potential strike.

this is terrible news for fall premieres.

(note- picture of julie cooper is purely for entertainment's sake)

Insane!

so im sitting in dead stop traffic on rt 80 (aka hell on earth) in new jersey on my way home from work- and this is what i hear on the radio: a man, apparently the second of the day, was climbing the new york times building on 8th ave and 41st street. this location, mind you, being right across from port authority.

i have had many opportunities to stare up at this 52 story building while waiting on cab lines outside the bus station, and let me tell you, its tall. i was getting nauseus just listening to the report because im deathly afraid of heights and i was picturing the scene. anyways, you can read a detailed description of the whole event on the ny times blog.

*tear*

every tv obsessed person (or i should say most) reads michael ausiello's blog religiously and makes sure to log on every humpday for his latest scoop session- "ask ausiello". im pretty sure ive done it for years. this week i read a post that completely shocked me. read below:

"The great philosopher Sheryl Crow once said sang, "A change will do you good." And I sure hope she knew what she was talking about, because I'm standing on the precipice of a doozy. After eight fraktastic years with TV Guide — the best of my career — I've made the toughest decision of my life: To move on to new challenges at Entertainment Weekly. No tears, please. (I'm sure Elisabeth Rohm has shed enough for all of us.) TVGuide.com and TV Guide magazine will be fine without me. Great, in fact. I'm leaving behind so many voracious scoophounds that you may not even realize I'm gone. (Plus, the office's monthly diet Snapple bill is sure to go down substantially.)Before I go, though, I wanted to express my unsmurfing gratitude to you guys, for the hundred million things you've been moved to ask Ausiello. It's because of you and our shared obsession with the tube that I am lucky enough to do for a living what you can only wish you got to I love the most. Sincerely — thanks for the memories, Ausholes, and here's to many more."

i almost cried. but at least hes just moving to another major media outlet. i actually like EW more!

uh oh...

perez hilton stated the other day on his blog that the "cw network is failing" and that "one or more owners are ready to bail out" on the channel.

this is bad news for anyone who loves gossip girl, as i do. monday night showed the networks second highest ratings in its two year history, yet still it is being trumpeted as a "major disappointment" by some insiders at the wall street journal.

wsj needs to shut up. they dont know what they are talking about. obviously people are going to focus in more on the major networks because they are well known and better advertised. they will naturally get more veiwers. this is not anything new.

the truth is that the cw has one GREAT show, a couple decent shows (one tree hill and antm), and a host of terrible ones. they just need to do better chosing their programing.

next season's premiere of the 90210 "redo" should be good for them, although i suspect that show is going to be terrible. i suppose we will have to wait for the upfronts in the fall before we find out what cw's future will be.

get out your checkbooks ladies

as you all are well aware, the economy is in the shitter, which means that naturally stores will be closing some of their branches in malls, standalones, etc.

i thought id send out a little warning because when this happens, its sometimes the best opportunity to run out and get some things, that is if there are closings and liquidations nearby.

retail stores such as pacsun and ann taylor plan on closing over 100 each of their stores before 2010.

pier one imports is planning on closing only about 25 of its stores, but this could be a great time to go out and get some furniture! i know of a few of these stores near me that have been underperforming.

also now may be the time to buy expensive jewelry! certain jewelers are being hit hard, because no one has the money to be putting into the luxury market right now. one particular store is liquidating over 400 million in jewelry. wow.

basically just keep your eyes out. although many people may be staying in and not spending, now may be, and actually is, the best time TO spend.
