oh MY FREAKIN GOD.

for the hell of it, i decided to check my myspace this morning to see what was up. sometimes i get random messages from people i havent talked to in a while or whatnot.

maybe like a week ago i sent The Duke Spirit, the killingest band in the UK, a message to tell them how fabulous they are, etc. really bands like them deserve any praise they get and u can just tell they are really down to earth and are doing what they do because they love making music.

well, they read my message like a day after i sent it and i was extremely happy. for them to take time out and read what i said was just really pleasing to me. i didnt care if i got a response or not.

WELL! when i logged on this morning i had a message! i thought.. "it couldnt be.." but when i clicked the link the message WAS FROM THEM!

they basically thanked me for my "great words" and that they will see me in october when they come. i mean i dont think they will literally see me but ill see them! this has seriously made my day. it doesnt even matter that i have 6 straight hours of accounting classes today.

a band that appreciates its fans will be around for a long time! seriously check out their music your gonna love it i promise.

reading and leeds festival 2008

somehow, all of the great music festivals are beyond my reach. i swear. if i lived in GB or the UK or anywhere near, id go to every single one. id be poor from all the train tickets and concert tickets but id be the happiest person alive.

this past weekend was the reading and leeds festival and sooo many great bands/performers where there including MGMT, santogold, my lovers the duke spirit, RATM, the ting tings, and the kills. to celebrate my 250th post (2 posts ago) im going to embed a video that fucking rocks.

this lead singer sounds BETTER live than she does in the friken studio. and she sounds perfect in the studio.

music im dying to buy

if i didnt just spend almost a 100 bucks importing the Radio 1 Live Lounge albums, this is what i would be buying:



few people know this, but im a huge huge rage against the machine fan. ive absolutely been dying for them to put out new material. well, its not gonna happen..yet anyway. HOWEVER, even more hardcore fans than me have been hotly anticipating this EP by frontman Zach de la Rocha. the entire this is only a 20 minute set, but at this point we will take anything! and the good news is that it isnt a huggge departure from what we are used to with RATM. lets face it- they can all go their separate ways and form other groups (cough Audioslave)..but Zach isnt the same without his band and his band just isnt the same without him. still as of the spring of this year, Rocha remains tight lipped about a possible new album.



what i like about MGMT is that they are friken weird. and seems like alot of my fave music has some kind of linking to brooklyn. Oracular Spectacular is not for people who like highly commercial music. little known factiod: they actually were played on the season finale of gossip girl! right now "electric feel" has me groovin.



i already own Neptune, which i have on friken repeat in my car, so i decided to check out their previous album- Cuts Across the Land. When i got to the page on itunes- EVERY DAMN SONG had a completely full popularity meter. (for those that dont know itunes, the popularity meter shows how popular a particular song is compared to others on the album or from different albums) Ive spent probably several hundred dollars on itunes over the past couple of years and i have NEVER come across an album that had that. customer comments went something like "every song on this album is fantastic" and more people concurred with me that this band KILLS it live.



shes called "the killingest popstar on the planet". her voice is beautiful. she looks fierce. shes been around since the late 90's. AND shes british. pretty much everything im looking for in an album. her lyrics are sort of like lily's but she hits it a bit harder than allen does. Read more!

im blogging at my own risk right now, because my mom's running around all stressed out- company's coming.

oh and my computer is running extremely slow. wtf im furious.

many (or all of you) know of my affinity for anything and everything that comes out of the u.k., especially when it comes to music. so i had to tell you about this new band i have discovered..the duke spirit. they have a sound very similar to jefferson airplane. the band is relatively new, releasing their first album in 2005, eventually making it to the coachella music festival in 2006. for anyone who doesnt know coachella, it is an extremely popular concert festival happening every spring in california. its where you find up and coming and already popular alternative bands, electronica, and certain hip hop artists.

they have only reached a small level of success as of yet, but as well all know commercial success isnt everything. anyways..check them out at www.myspace.com/thedukespirit if you trust my musical taste.
