welcome down with the warrior sound

as if the writers strike this past winter wasn't enough, there is now a imminent SAG strike looming above our heads. ive been wondering why interesting film news is now few and far between, and this is the reason. many of you have probably heard lots of tidbits on it from different news outlets, but ill give you a short rundown here:

-basically the fight is raging between SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) over actors contracts and their royalties relating to streaming video on the internets.
-the actors want to be compensated (as the writers and directors did back in the winter) for people watching them work on the internet, this includes the actors actually giving consent for their work to be shown on the internet. i guess this seems fair?
-if an agreement is not reached by june 30th, then SAG goes on strike. i hope you all know what this means- no actors to act in anything!
-this may not affect movies as badly as television, as most actors have signed waivers to continue working on films. some films without waivers have built in breaks that accommodate a potential strike.

this is terrible news for fall premieres.

(note- picture of julie cooper is purely for entertainment's sake)
